Biography

Joseph Danek is Executive Director of the EPSCoR Foundation and Senior Vice President of The Implementation Group (TIG). Dr. Danek co-founded TIG shortly after retiring from the National Science Foundation, where he served in multiple capacities as a senior executive, including serving as Director of EPSCoR (1978-1984). At TIG, Dr. Danek provides consulting services to universities and colleges, pre-college learning institutions, and other not-for-profit organizations in science, mathematics, and engineering education and research improvement. He has a broad understanding and executive experience in designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating research and education initiatives and R&D improvement strategies through his work at TIG and his 26-year career at NSF. Dr. Danek holds a B.S. in biology from St. Mary’s College in Maryland and a Ph.D. in Science Education from the University of Maryland, College Park. He and his wife, Marita, live in Annapolis, Maryland. They have three children.
